Theatre Aspen:
Stage Management Apprentice

During the summer of 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the unique opportunity to serve as a stage management apprentice during Theatre Aspen’s adjusted “All For One” season. In picturesque Aspen, Colorado, we were fortunate to be one of the few companies in the country able to produce theatre in the form of cabarets and a radio play in a spacious outdoor tent. It was quite challenging, adjusting to and enforcing COVID safety regulations and generally navigating so many unknowns, but we were thankfully able to finish the abridged season with no health issues. This apprenticeship also coincided with the summer’s surge in the Black Lives Matter movement, and especially as a white person, it was very important to me to further implement anti-racism into my work. These redoubled efforts towards equity were also difficult, but extremely necessary - and will be for the entirety of my life - and I am proud to have used my voice to help combat racism during this season.
